The Seasons of Deer Creek Inn
Gold is still being discovered every day at Deer Creek Inn in Nevada City, California.

Winter:
Save some Gold at Deer Creek Inn during Winter’s festivities. Take the Candlelight Tour of all the member Historical Bed and Breakfast Inns of Grass Valley and Nevada City on selected Thursdays during December. Also, in December, you can witness the Christmas lights and crafts on Wednesdays at Nevada City’s Victorian Christmas or Fridays at Grass Valley’s Cornish Christmas. Come the New Year, you can save more gold while Ken prepares your taxes during our special promotion “Tax and Relax.” Drop your taxes off with Ken and, after a hardy breakfast, travel up the road for a day of snowshoeing, and cross-county-skiing.

Spring:
During Springtime, Nevada County’s gold runs through the veins of its creeks. If you would like to try your hand at gold panning in the icy runoff, Ken will be happy to show you how it is done. Then there are all the spring flowers popping up and brightening gardens and parks all over town. We recommend the Wildflower and Bird Walks at the South Yuba River State Park in Bridgeport. We especially love to see the various butterflies and ladybugs.

Summer:
Summertime brings a flurry of activity to Nevada City and Grass Valley. There are outdoor activities, performing arts theatre, Music in the Mountains, the Nevada City Bicycle Classic, art shows, summer camps for the kids and a storytelling festival to name just a few. It is at this time of the year when Nevada County gold is found in the spirit of its people. From friendly and helpful shopkeepers to the knowledgeable staff at the various venues, everyone extends a welcoming hand. And that’s just the tourists! It is truly one of the best spots in California. So come and enjoy it.

Fall:
The annual fall spectacle of color runs from October though November depending on the weather. Towering Sugar Maples and Liquidambars provide some of the most brilliant hues. Many popular colors around the inn can be easily enjoyed by foot, bicycle or car. Early settlers planted many of these trees. So come, relax and enjoy the “Annual Gold” in Nevada City.
